The Cataloging Commission and the Classification & Indexing Commission are included into the Section on Bibliographic Control. These two Commissions are concerned with basic areas of librarianship: cataloging and classification.
Until 1998 the Bibliography Commission was also included into the Section on Bibliographic Control, but despite the fact it was one of the oldest Commissions of our society, that year it stopped functioning.
The Section's main task is to coordinate and promote the professional work in the field of cataloging and classification.
