In 1986 a group of music librarians from the Croatian Library Association founded  the"Section for the Music Libraries". Three years later it becomes a part of the bigger Section for the University and Special Libraries, as the Committee for the Music Libraries and Collections. The committee associate librarians working in the field of music librarianship - in the libraries of music schools and universities, musical-scientific institutions or in the music departments of public and national libraries.
