The Cataloging Section was established with the aim of resolving the issue and problems of cataloging.

The basic task of the Section is to monitor international standards, guidelines, recommendations and manuals in the field of cataloging.

The Section's activities also include translations of standards, guidelines and the development of principles, guidelines and manuals for cataloging library materials.

Members of the Section monitor the activities of IFLA's Cataloging Section and participate as observers in its work.

The Section encourages and assists the continuous education of librarians, cooperation with international professional bodies, as well as with library societies, commissions and sections within the Croatian Library Association.

The Section is the organizer / co-organizer of professional meetings in the field of cataloging, members of the Commission participate in international and domestic professional meetings, and provide librarians with professional assistance in interpreting and applying national regulations and international standards.
